DOC. Magazin 7
DOC. Magazine is a semi-annual publication of the Faculty of Design, Munich University of Applied Sciences. With the seventh edition of the DOC. Magazine we allow ourselves something new. We asked ourselves what happens when the only requirement is that everything is allowed.
We talked about this with designers, design colleges and students. In Cologne we invited Ruedi Baur and Michael Kockot as well as René Spitz and Philipp Teufel to a dialogue. In an email interview, nine university magazines answered questions about their magazine and the topic "Everything Allowed". Thomas Wolf also talked to us about the possibilities of 3D printing and students again show their work from the past semester.
The design concept is based on the idea of leaving room for imagination. If everything is possible how much can we show? We open up this idea by showing black spaces for all images, kind of placeholders. Funny enough, the placeholders come across as a form of censorship, which allows us as an editorial team to lead the focus of the reader. We allow ourselves in this issue to not show a thing, to make you think about everything. It's controversial, it's different, you can't see a thing and yet you're able to imagine everything.
